Apprenticeship in Sustainable Resource Management
CIWM strongly supports all initiatives that strengthen the skills and capability of individuals who work in our sector. Apprenticeships provide the opportunity for companies to provide long term training focused on making real changes to how individuals perform at work. Recent changes to apprenticeships and the introduction of a levy, paid by all organisations in the UK with a wage bill of more than £3m, has generated greater interest in apprenticeships than ever before.
In November 2018 the level 2 Waste and Resource Operative apprenticeship standard was approved for delivery. The trailblazer group are now seeking input from employers who would like to be part of an implementation group. Those interested should contact denise.mcglynn@euskills.co.uk for more information. CIWM is now supporting the employer led group to look at the development of a level 4 (manager level) apprenticeship for the sector. This can only proceed if enough employers are represented. If you would like to know more what this might involve or express an interest in helping to shape this exciting development then please get in touch at apprenticeships@ciwm.co.uk.
CIWM are committed to helping individuals and organisations to understand more about how they can access apprenticeship training and navigate how apprenticeship training works. We welcome your questions about apprenticeships and have set up a dedicated email address for you to make enquiries. Contact us on apprenticeships@ciwm.co.uk or call 01604 620426.
This page will be regularly updated with additional information about apprenticeships. If you'd like to be updated by email when this page changes please email apprenticeships@ciwm.co.uk.
