Coca-Cola to sponsor Scottish Resources Conference

15 August 2018

Coca-Cola European Partners have joined Valpak to become headline sponsors at this year’s Scottish Resources Conference (SRC), which takes place on 3-4 October at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

Speaking on their reasons for getting involved in this year’s event, Jim Fox, Associate Director for Public Affairs at Coca Cola European Partners said:

“At Coca-Cola European Partners we are taking action on sustainability by using our business and our brands to build a better future.

“We’ll aim to collect all of our packaging so that more can be recycled and none of it ends up as litter or in the oceans.

“We hope to use this conference to inspire our Scottish customers, suppliers and stakeholders to work with us towards a well-designed & sustainable Deposit Return System.”

Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) recently set out what it believes a “well-designed & sustainable Deposit Return System” looks like.

Nick Brown, head of sustainability at CCEP, said: “We believe we’re at a crucial moment in time, with a once in a generation opportunity to create real change for packaging recovery systems in GB.

“We have been clear on our support for a well-designed DRS in Great Britain for some time – however with a DRS consultation now open in Scotland and one planned for England later this year, it is crucial that all parties come together to develop this collaboratively.”

Coca-Cola Great Britain also recently announced a partnership with Merlin Entertainments, to offer people 50% off entry to some of the UK’s most popular family attractions, in exchange for used plastic drink bottles.
