The course is designed to encourage interpretation of situations within the context of permitting using a combination of presentations, discussions, case studies and group exercises. A short assessment at the end of day two will ask questions relating to given scenarios. It will be designed to identify application of knowledge and information in the form of bullet-pointed key information. It will not require the writing of essays.
Assessments are marked by the University of Northampton.
- identify potential environmental impacts from resource and wastes facilities and have an awareness of mitigation
- identify key legislation relevant to operating resource and wastes management facilities
- explain environmental permitting regulations and requirements
- identify your responsibilities and appropriate actions in a range of potential scenarios to comply with the permit
- explain your responsibilities regarding Duty of Care including using transfer notes and identifying 6 digit European Waste Catalogue (EWC) codes
- be aware of hazardous waste and the principles of identifying hazardous waste and the basic requirements of consignment
- identify your basic responsibilities under health and safety and identify good practice
