Equality, Diversion & Inclusion (EDI)
CIWM’s purpose is to move the world beyond waste. It’s a big ambition and we need an inclusive community with a wide diversity of voices skills knowledge and perspectives in order to achieve it.
This e-Learning course will equip you with the knowledge skills and perspectives necessary to understand and champion inclusion within the waste and resource management sector.
Enabling Equality Diversity and Inclusion will enrich the sector and bring benefit to us all.
What will I learn on the course
Over five modules the course will explore the importance of Equality Diversity and Inclusion across the waste and resource management sector and at CIWM and the impact it has on our business and the people around us through
• Embracing inclusion
• Learning how we can bring our whole selves to work and feel safe everyday
• Understanding how our brains make decisions, and how we can better manage them to be more inclusive
• Discovering how our own privilege can pay a part in our everyday lives and how to become an active ally to everyone around us
• Reflecting on scenarios and understanding what we can do to become more consciously inclusive.
Who is it for
The content of this course is aimed at the CIWM community including members, volunteers, employees and individuals working within the waste and resource management sector.
What are the entry requirements for this course
You do not require any prior knowledge of waste and resource management to enrol in this course.
How will I benefit from taking the course
This course will help you to champion inclusion within the waste and resource management sector by
• Understanding the importance of equality and embracing individual differences
• Recognising that different people have different needs and provide solutions to address them
• Addressing the causes of inequality and removing barriers
• Actively promoting and practising inclusive behaviours by listening to and amplifying diverse voices, and ensuring equal opportunities.
