CIWM South West Centre Site Visit to Keynsham Recycling Hub 

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a CIWM Site Visit and see a new integrated public and operational recycling and reuse facility.

The new 'state of the art' Keynsham waste and recycling facility in Bath & NE Somerset was developed to increase public recycling provision, and to help reduce general waste and operational costs. The HWRC was opened to the public in April 2023 and the complete facility was officially opened in February this year. 

The facility comprises a HWRC, reuse shop, MRF, municipal waste transfer station, trade waste transfer station, vehicle depot and workshop, staff welfare facilities and offices. The new operational hub has consolidated the council's operations from three different sites, and is a central depot for more than 100 recycling and refuse vehicles together with more than 200 operational and support staff.

The visit will be taking place at the end of the operational day to allow for easy access around the facility. 

Programme:

16:00 - Arrival 
16:15 - Introduction, H&S briefing and short presentation by Ian James, Relocation Programme Manager 
16:30 - Site tour of the facility 
18:00 - Depart

Please Note
 - Please wear safety footwear suitable for walking around the site, as well as a high viz jacket or vest.
 - Keynsham is the nearest railway station.
 - If arriving by car, please park in the staff car park. 
 - The site is accessible, other than the gantry overseeing the MRF which is only accessible by steps.
