Scottish Resources Awards
7th & 8th October 2015
Glasgow Hilton Hotel
Celebrating best practice and innovation right across the Scottish waste and recycling industry, the Scottish Resources Awards this year offer a great opportunity for the public, private and community sector to gain national recognition for their work.
Judged by leading industry experts, the award winners will be announced at the Scottish Resources Conference dinner on 7 October in Glasgow, and will be presented by Scottish broadcaster and writer Sally Magnusson. Attended by more than 450 industry professionals from local authorities, regulators, and private and public sector organisations, the Awards Dinner is dedicated to recognising the exceptional achievements of organisations and individuals striving for a zero waste society.
Entries to these prestigious awards are now being accepted and the deadline is 31 August. Last year saw winners from across the waste and resources industry in Scotland, including Dundee City Council, Levenseat Ltd, Viridor, North Ayrshire Council and Cunninghame Furniture Recycling.
Iain Gulland, chief executive of Zero Waste Scotland, said: "The Scottish Resources Awards are a great opportunity to turn the spotlight on some of the great work achieved over the past year and to recognise the contributions of those involved. It's been a busy year with some really exciting projects taking place, so I'm looking forward to seeing some interesting applications."
The awards feature brand new categories this year which aim to celebrate the work of public and private sector organisations as well as community groups. The 2015 categories are:
• Best Public Sector Initiative Award
• Best Private Sector Initiative Award
• Best Community Sector Initiative Award sponsored by Valpak
• Outstanding Contribution Award sponsored by FCC
• Rising Star of the Year Award
CIWM chief executive Steve Lee said: "Now in their 14th year, these awards provide a fantastic opportunity for companies and individuals who are making a real contribution to the sustainable waste and resource agenda to be recognised. It could be anything from a small community recycling initiative to a major public/private sector partnership project - we want to showcase and celebrate how dynamic and innovative this industry can be."
