Kestutis Sadauskas, Director, DG ENV, European Commission will be delivering the keynote address on day two of the Scottish Resources Conference next month.

Mr Sadauskas, appointed as Director for Green Economy at the EU Commission late last year, will discuss the progress being made towards the new, more ambitious circular economy strategy that the Commission plans to publish in late in 2015, and the challenges and opportunities for business and the economy.

With Scotland's Cabinet Secretary for Environment & Rural Affairs, Richard Lochhead MSP, giving the keynote address on day one, this event will provide delegates with an important opportunity to hear the latest thinking on the issues and opportunities ahead for the circular economy in Scotland and Europe.

Iain Gulland, Chief Executive of Zero Waste Scotland said:
"With Scotland leading the way in developing a circular economy, working with partners across Europe will be crucial to success. I'm therefore delighted to have Kestutis Sadauskas join the excellent line-up of speakers at this year's Scottish Resources Conference."

The food waste debate and the Circular Economy will be the overarching themes at this year's conference. With both of these issues high on the political agenda, the event provides the perfect platform to engage, influence and network with policy makers and decision makers.

The event also plays host to the Scottish Resource Awards, which recognise the achievements being made in Scotland in sustainable waste and resource management and the finalists have just been confirmed. The 2015 shortlisted entries are:
