CIWM Welcomes New Environment Agency Chief Executive Officer

28 September 2015

Responding to the news today of the appointment of Sir James Bevan (currently the UK High Commissioner to India) the Chartered Institution of wastes Management has welcomed Sir James to his new role.

Steve Lee, CEO at the Institution said: "Sir James takes on this new role at a crucial time for our industry. We stand poised to be a vital part of delivering a more circular economy with all of the business, social and environmental gains that come with it. At the same time we struggle with tough market conditions and an under-current of waste crime. Sir James is clearly a very senior figure and will bring with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. CIWM and its members will be delighted to support him at the Agency in the hope and expectation that he and his team can work with us and other regulators across the UK to deliver better waste and resources management".

"CIWM has already signalled its thanks and appreciation for the out-going Chief Executive, Paul Leinster and we wish David Rooke well in his role as interim CEO until Sir James picks up by the end of November."
