Zero Waste Scotland
Zero Waste Scotland exists to create a society where resources are valued and nothing is wasted. Their goal is to help Scotland reap the environmental, economic and social benefits of making best use of the world’s limited natural resources.
Their funding comes from the Scottish Government and the European Regional Development Fund in order to support delivery of the Scottish Government’s circular economy strategy and the EU’s Europe 2020 growth strategy.
Their mission is to influence and enable change – from gathering evidence and informing policy, to motivating practical behaviour change in individuals and organisations through their programmes and brands. They also make direct interventions to affect change, commonly in the form of finance, business support, technical advice, training and competence development or communications support.
Underpinning this is a commitment to partnership working. They work strategically with key partners, including SEPA, the Enterprise Agencies, Scottish Futures Trust, Skills Development Scotland and others to deliver our programme of work.

SEPA
SEPA is a non-departmental public body of the Scottish Government. Our purpose is to protect and improve the environment in ways that also create health and well-being benefits and sustainable economic growth.
We help business and industry to understand and comply with their environmental responsibilities and legislation and have a range of enforcement powers which we can use to ensure that regulations are complied with. We also work collaboratively with businesses, other agencies, organisations and policy makers to help them deliver environmental success in ways which also bring economic and social benefits. SEPA is an organisation with a strong science base. We constantly assess the quality of Scotland’s environment by monitoring our air, land and water and use our findings to advise government, industry and the public on environmental priorities and best practice. SEPA’s Regulatory Strategy, One Planet Prosperity, sets out our approach, and aims to make environmental regulation in Scotland truly world class.
